Do You Have a Dormant Account?
What is a dormant account anyway? It’s a share (savings) account with a balance under $100 with no activity for six months, including deposits or withdrawals, and no other savings or loan accounts.
What happens if my account becomes dormant?
A $1 dormant account fee will be charged to your account per month until your account becomes active again. If your account remains inactive for more than five years, we are required to send your funds to the state of Nebraska as unclaimed funds.
How Can I Prevent my Account from Becoming Dormant?
We would prefer you use your account than have to charge the fee for managing a non-active account. We’d rather see you take advantage of the savings or loan opportunities at First Nebraska Educators Credit Union. We have several options to help you grow your savings through interest-bearing savings accounts, savings certificates, and more. We are also one of the best resources you can use to borrow money affordably.
