Our History
First Nebraska Credit Union and Educators Credit Union joined together on April 1, 2000, becoming First Nebraska Educators Credit Union. Together, we bring to our members over 100 years of combined service.
We serve many employee groups and all public school employees throughout the state of Nebraska. Our past is a legacy of caring, and our future is a commitment to service - all for our members.
"It's all part of what makes credit unions significantly different from other financial service providers."
Like all credit unions, First Nebraska Educators Credit Union is a financial cooperative that offers many of the same services you find at other financial institutions. As with all credit unions, our members ultimately have responsibility for credit union operations. This is because our members elect qualified volunteers - called directors - from among our membership. These directors hire the chief executive officer and oversee daily operations, financial management, and planning.
Because First Nebraska Educators Credit Union is a financial cooperative, your credit union savings represent your "share" in the cooperative and are insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF) to at least $250,000 per account.
First Nebraska Educators Credit Union undergoes rigorous examination by the State of Nebraska Department of Banking, the National Credit Union Administration, and quarterly audits by an independent auditor to assure sound operation and management.
